Her fate

she knelt and knew
her fate, upon the ground
lay, like fallen seeds
from a summer bloom
if only the courage
would come
to scape bare ground
digging fingernails
in hard soil
scooping a place
for shattered dreams
mayhap they would
grow when leaning
down, her tears
bedewed the soil
sinking deep to the seed
to grow the heart
deep and strong
and find the sun
of her fate
