Dracons Death

You strode forward into a
Brightness that you deserved
Your joy reflected off of
Everyone but me
I felt the darkness within me
And hid in the corner
Never daring to touch
The edge of your shadow
Even that was brighter
Than I could stand.
Its pale luminescence searing
My life, but still I
Could not refrain from
Following you with my
Tearing eyes, my heart trembling
On the edge, of splitting
Of shattering, of shivering
Into fragments that would never
Leave the shade where I dwelt.

You never came close enough
To lighten my soul
You brought the flame to others
I could see it in your giving hands
Till one day you tried too much
And evil turned upon, to devour
To destroy you!  Oh my love
I leapt from the shadows
To burn in your light
My wings spread wide
My dracons breath raining death
Upon those that tried to kill
The only good I loved
My dracons breath raining death
Upon those that tried to kill
The only good I loved
My claws scored the wounds
Upon them, and I killed for
You my love. My body in front
Of you, who would be my death
I slew them to the last.

My agony knew no bounds.
As I turned and beheld you
In your full glory.
I quenched my final need when
I looked at your face and
I saw your tears, as my eyes closed
And you touched me with your joy
And you touched me with your light
You didn't know my death would come
So swiftly from a love
That should never of been,
Of the shadow for the light
My dragons breath sighed quietly
My dragons heart slowed
You touched me one last time
Hand warm beneath the ridge of my eye
As I faded and knew no more.
